2006 - Sep 27		AB 32, the Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 is a California environmental law signed into law by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger on September 27, 2006. The law requires that by 2020 the state's greenhouse gas emissions be reduced to 1990 levels, a 25% reduction under "business as usual estimates" and will bring California into near compliance with the provisions of the Kyoto Protocol.

1997 - Dec 11		The Kyoto Protocol is initially adopted for use in Kyoto, Japan

1992 - Jun 02 to 1992 - Jun 14		1992 "Earth Summit" results in 150 nations signing a declaration committing themselves to reducing carbon dioxide emissions in their countries.

1990		The United States passes the Clean Air Act of 1990 focusing on the reduction of smog and air pollution

1913 - 1914		Swedish scientist Svente Arrhenius coins the term "greenhouse effect"

1896 - Apr		Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius first used the term "greenhouse effect" in his paper "On the Influence of Carbonic Acid in the Air upon the Temperature of the Ground". Philosophical Magazine and Journal of Science (fifth series) 41: 237–275.
