Hello, my name is John LaClair, and I am here mainly to save the spirit bear. A beautiful, majestic, peaceful, irreplaceable creature that is critical to the environment it lives in. So, I hadn't heard about the spirit bear at all until two weeks ago but now I am EXTREMELY concerned about it thanks to a man named Simon Jackson. I have tried really hard to save it for the past couple of weeks. This is just the beginning. I am hoping that, with your help, we can save the spirit bear and its habitat. 1 out of every 10 black bears is born a spirit bear, but only on Princess Royal Island. The island, millions of youth are trying to protect. Scientists have proved that this bear is not an albino or a freak of nature, it is genetically unique. Also, if the black bears in the green/watershed area move to Princess Royal Island because of logging the spirit bear's genes will mutate, causing the genes to slowly and gradually, disappear. Yes, there is a slight chance that the spirit bear will survive with logging going on, but there is an even larger chance that the spirit bear will die. So when it comes to the protection of a species, people should err on the side of caution and not allow logging. This creature is critical to its environment because if the bear is there, it eats salmon. The salmon carcasses then sink into the Earth and provide fertile soil. Which, in turn, makes the trees huge and strong. So pretty much, what I am trying to say is, you wipe out the bear, you wipe out the forest.
